About

CVWA is a highly nutritious substrate that has become an excellent alternative to traditional manure-based recipes.

Our carefully crafted, extensively tested formula is packed with essential nutrients to support strong, healthy growth and consistent performance.

Proven to deliver excellent results, CVWA has quickly become a game changer in the mycology community.

A nutrient-rich alternative to manure recipes

CVWA is coco coir, vermiculite, worm castings and Azomite. The worm castings and mineral dust bring the nutrition and the microbial richness that growers used to get from composted manure, without the sourcing problems, the smell and the batch-to-batch variability. It is hydrated, sterilised and sealed with a filter patch, and it has become our pick for growers who want the biggest, most vigorous flushes from compost-loving species.

Sizes and prices: 1kg for $35 and 2kg for $65. Prices in AUD, GST inclusive where it applies, shipped tracked Australia-wide.

How to use it

Exactly like CVA: spawn at 1:2 to 1:4 by weight in a clean space, colonise in a tub or the bag at room temperature in the dark, then fruit with fresh air, indirect light and 85 to 95% humidity. Because the mix is richer, lean towards the 1:2 end of the ratio for your first run with it.

Questions

About this product

What does CVWA stand for?

Coco coir, Vermiculite, Worm castings and Azomite, a natural mineral dust used for trace elements.

Why use worm castings instead of manure?

Castings deliver similar nutrition and biology with none of the variability or smell of manure, and they sterilise cleanly. The result is consistent, bag after bag.

What spawn ratio should I use?

1:2 by weight is the safe choice for a rich substrate. Experienced growers run it leaner once they trust their spawn.

Which species is it for?

Species that would traditionally be grown on a manure-based mix, and oysters, which enjoy the extra nutrition. Wood lovers (lion's mane, shiitake, king oyster, reishi) still want the hardwood substrate.
